The superiority of Tauhid and what it removes of s
Allah the Most Exalted said: “It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulum (wrong i.e. by worhipping other besides Allah), for them (only) there is security and they are guided ones.” (6:82)
Ubadah bin As-Samit, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that Allah’s Messenger, peace be upon him, said:
“Whoever testifies that there is nothing worthy of worship in truth (no God) but Allah Alone (with no (peer or) co-partner), and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger, and that ‘Iesa (Jesus) is the slave of Allah, His Messenger, and His Word which He bestowed in Maryam (Mary) and a spirit (created) from Him, and that Paradise & Hell-fire are realities, then Allah will admit him into Paradise, whatever his deeds might be.” (Albukhari)
‘Itban, May Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
“Indeed Allah has protected from Hell-fire that person who testifies: ‘There is nothing worthy of worship in truth (no true God) but Allah’, seeking thereby nothing but Allah’s Face (pleasure).” Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
Abu Sa’id Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that Allah’s Messenger, peace be upon him, said:
“Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, said: “O my Rabb, teach me something through which I can remember You and supplicate to You.’ Allah answered: “Say, O Musa, La ilaha illa-Allah’. Musa said: ‘O my Rabb, all your salves say these words’. Allah said: “O Musa, if the seven heavens and all they contain other than Me, and the seven earths as well, were all put in one side of a scale and La ilaha illa-Allah put in the other, the latter would overweigh them.’” (This Hadith has been reported by Ibn Hibban, and Al-Hakim declared it Sahih).
At-Tirmidhi reported from Anas, may Allah be pleased with him: He heard Allah’s Messenger, peace be upon him, saying:
“Allah the Most Exalted said: ‘O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with the world full of sins, and meet me without making anything co-partner to Me (Shirk), I would come to you with a similar amount of forgiveness.”
(Sheikh-ul-Islam Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahab. Kitab At-Tauhid, Dar-us-Salam Publications, Riyadh-Saudi Arabia)
Ibn Kather stated in the explanation of “It is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulum (wrong i.e. by worshipping other besides Allah), for them (only) there is security and they are guided ones.” (6:82). “Those who worship not but Allah, and associate nothing to Him. Those will be secured in the hereafter and be guided in this worldly life and in the hereafter.”
Ibn Mas’aud said: When the following Verse was revealed: “it is those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah and worship none but Him Alone) and confuse not their belief with Zulum (wrong i.e. by worshipping other besides Allah), for them (only) there is security and they are guided ones.” (6:82), the companions of Allah’s Messenger, peace be upon him, said, “Who amongst us had not done Zulm (wrong)?” Then Allah, The Almighty, revealed: “Verily, joining others in worship with Allah is a great Zulm (wrong) indeed.” (V. 31:13) (Albukhari). This shows that those who associated and worshiped others with Allah, they will be neither in security nor guidance and they will dwell in Hellfire. For those who committed wrong deeds (apart shirk) Allah will either punish them for their minor or major sins, or protect them from His torment by His Mercy.
“Whoever testifies that there is nothing worthy of worship in truth (no God) except Allah Alone with no (peer or) co-partner”. We should fully understand the meaning of such testimony. Spelling it without understanding of the meaning is not at all benefiting.
“and that ‘Iesa (Jesus) is the slave of Allah and His Messenger” This to believe that Iesa (Jesus) is Allah’s slave and His Messenger, and to deny what others believe that Iesa (Jesus) is the God, or God’s son, or the third of three. Allah the Almighty says: “No son (or offspring) did Allah beget, nor is there any ilah (god) along with Him…” (Al-Mu’minun (23): 91). “Verily, the likeness of ‘Isa (Jesus) before Allah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: “Be!” – and he was” (Al-‘Imran (3): 59)
“Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, said: “O my Rabb, teach me something through which I can remember You and supplicate to You.” Allah taught Him to say: “La ilaha illa-Allah”. This is the best remembrance, because these words denying association are among the best acts and essential beliefs in Islam. In another hadith, the prophet, peace be upon him, said: “The best remembrance is La Ilaha illa-Allah”.
